Subject: How Do Ironman Championship Age Group Slots Work...

I've noticed that the amount of available Championship slots differ from event to event and my question is: how exactly are they doled out?  Are they distributed equally among the Age Groups or based on age grading?  I'm primarily interested in the 70.3 system, if it differs at all from the 140.6 method.

Is there any way to figure out based on the available slots, how many will be available to your specific AG?  I did a quick search on this question but did not find any information.

Bigger AGs get more slots, so it depends how many register and race at your event.  Generally, men in the 30-39 AGs get the most, while women in the 60+ AGs may get only 1.  You can make a pretty good guess on the distribution by looking at prior years.

Ah, so it's directly proportionate to the number of people in each Age Group.  Gotcha...
