Pre-race routine:

Got to the race early for some photography of concurrent Superfrog 1/2 Ironman. Set up in transition area: We had VIP transition area spots. Did a decent swim warm-up in San Diego Bay. Drank a Red Bull 10 minutes before start as usual. Had a full breakfast 3.5 hours before race.
Event warmup:

20 minute swim. Felt good. Wore my Profile Metal Cell full suit.

Nice, Tom. Congrats on your AG finish, and that's a nice bike split for early season. Nice work. And hope you and Sara enjoyed the, albeit short, vacation. How was the run?  Missed the split, but running on sand....erg.

AND...you got to roll like with the VIP's. Most excellent.

The run was cool. I got in one 7:16 mile but was doing an 8:01 pace thorugh the soft sand. My watch said 7:16, 7:22, 7:31, 7:35 for four of the miles- that is pretty good for me at this time of the year.

That was a fun race. Very, very cool. Anytime you can race in SEAL country is a good time!
