VERY small community event. This was basically a training run for me. Was looking for 1:55-2:00 and came in at the slow end of that range. Temps popped way up today, and a lot of us struggled to perform in the heat. Two weeks ago, it was still winter with snow on the ground, and I hadn't been outside to run. Now it's suddenly summer with no opportunity for the body to adjust. Took plenty of liquids and gels out with me in a fanny pack, and slurped and sucked my way through everything I had. Hard to keep my pulse down on the back half, and I mixed a little walking into the last three miles.

Can't control the weather. Two years ago, they raced in the snow. Anyway, have to start putting miles in, so nothing to do but go out and sweat and suffer a bit.
