Comments:

Felt a strain in left calf less than 3 miles into the race. Stopped to stretch. I thought I would have to end my race but tried to give it a chance to warm up a bit more. It took about 2 miles to slowly work my way back with the 3:30 pace group. Although I was aware of calf it did not impact the remainder of my run. Most running with the pace group dropped off at about mile 19-21. Pacer pulled away at about mile 22. My heart rate elevated into zone 5 at this time and my legs were killing me! I consider mile 23-26.2 to be more of a metal failure. My legs were killing me but they still worked!... maybe not at 8:00 pace but I didn't need to crawl.
What would you do differently?:

Longer pace runs to prepare for race.
