So, would anyone like to show me around the poto?  Specifically the AA run course.

I as well need to be shown the poto way.  I want to go every weekend down to the Poto and get in 5 miles of trails.

Anyone else game?  This weekend is out but everyone after that is IN!

What keeps amazing me about the poto is why would anybody make a trail going up every single hill they could find...;-(

^^^^^^

To challenge us.

This is going to be my first triathlon, and quite a few people in my tri club told me this past week that if they were starting out in triathlon, they would NOT pick AA to be their first.

Great.    I am uber nervous now.

Baby steps up the hills... high cadence just like in cycling!  Better to spin than grind!

*chop chop chop chop chop chop*  Chop down the hills!

Dang it, this is the one scouting trip that I really need to make.

Hopefully, some pals will meet me out there after work sometime in the next couple weeks.  The weekends are filling up ridiculously fast.

(that's the third time I've used the word ridiculous in the past ten minutes.  I'm cut off from that word now.

In case your wondering about the recent conditions out there. Hankard (the road going out for the bike) is kinda rough, the water is cold (I dipped my toe in), and the trail still really suuuucks! Alright, the trails the same so it may be my fitness level that suuucks.

No ugh - the poto brick ROCKED my socks this past weekend!  So much so that I did ANOTHER 5 miles of trails today.

So who wants to play on the poto NEXT weekend????? Hmmm????  I promise to bring a full tank o' fuel inmy belly so I can actually make it up the hills without dying.

I just signed up for the AA triathlon...I'd love to check out the course with everyone this weekend...since I live in Ferndale where a curb is a hill, I'm sure I'm going to be crying on the infamous trail run. NO PAIN, NO GAIN!

I haven't been able to make any of these practice runs out to the Poto, but I have experience out there and I can say this....look at it as a fun experience, if nothing else.  The first time I did it, I had a fawn run down the road with me for a bit.  I thought for a minute that it was going to race me to the finish line.

I agree with your perspective on the run. It's a tough one, but big fun. Even the girsl and guys who do really well at this race agree you simply have to take it as it comes- it's a challenge for everyone.

Ann Arbor is a great race to do the week before Maumee Bay, which is one of the most beautiful races anywhere in the world with a wonderful course and picturesque setting just 45 minutes south of Detroit at Maumee Bay State Park.

You go to Ann Arbor on June 8 and get a good talking-to from the run course then go to Maumee Bay on June 22 and do this beautiful little race on a perfectly flat course along a beautiful coastline.

After Ann Arbor sometimes you're thinking, "Man, this sport is hard and I am not in as good a shape as I thought I was" and then a week or two later you're at Maumee Bay running aloong the lake on a nice, flat, paved running trail toward the finish line setting a new P.R. and thinking, "Man! I absolutely rule!"

It's all about the ups and downs. What you pay for at Ann Arbor you get back in the weeks after.

I'll see you there...

Maumee is just a beautiful event. Small(ish), perfectly run by the good folk at Health and Fitness Promotions (Shannon Kurek, master race director).

As soon as you cross the finish line there are nice showers right across the line. The transition area is in a nice, paved parking lot (no bare feet on gravel...) and the swim is in a tailor-made inland man-made lake.

The scenery is very nice also.

Um, look for a thread by the name of 'next weekend', but we should be able to get you out to the poto. Trixie and I have 18, I might be interested in some riding as well.

It's advanced class, tho. I just got done with TTT, and she just got done with Western States training camp. So the run won't be basic.

C'mon, now.

I'm going to have to try to squeeze something in, next week, mid-week ... or just do it blind.  Most likely, it'll be blind.  Oh joy!
