Subject: RE: Picking a PlanWell first, IM Florida is on 11/1/2008, assuming are going with the standard 20 week plan, (Beginner or Intermediate), that puts you at June 15th to start an IM plan. And your Triple T HIM training plan will finish up at the end of May, so we are only dealing with 2 weeks until beginning the 20 week IM plan. I would just treat those two weeks as 'impromptu' training to rest up and have fun before really getting into the meat of the season. You would treat your other races (1/2's and Oly's) as B,C races and adjust your IM schedule appropriately on race week. This option takes into effect that IMFL is your only A race. OR You load up the Half-Full IM bridge plan from August 25th to Nov 1st. (10 of 12 weeks). THEN you load up the 16 or 20 week HIM plans to end on your GBC HIM race on Aug 24th (or is it the Little Smokies?), you will just be starting mid-plan from weeks 4 or 8 respectively, I'm sure it's not an issue with you as far as volume. THIS WAY, you at least have the plans setup for 2 'A' races with a good taper for both GBC HIM and IMFL. Your Toyota HIM on 9/21 is 6 weeks our from IMFL, if you did this at the end of week 6 of the HIM-to-IM Bridge plan, that may be ok, but you have a big 6 hour bike that next week after the race in week 7. Not sure if the race will leave you tanked or not. Similarly if you instead planned for the 20 week Int IM plan, you have a big bike the week after the race. If you did the 20 week Beginner IM plan, you have a 6 hour-ish ride the week of the race. You would have to do some juggling around the week before and after the race. You probably know how you recover more than me. Or just not do it and pick an Oly instead so you can focus more on IMFL...you definitely don't want burned out. |
