Overall Rank = 1654/22450
Age Group = M 20-29

Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5:15am, dressed in my costume, drove with my brother down to find a parking spot in the SoMa neighborhood.
Event warmup:

Sat in the car until about 30 minutes before the gun, because it was really cold outside. Ate a banana and drank half a bottle of water. Did a light jog and used the restroom before finding the big crowd of runners.
Run

  • 7.46 miles
  • 08m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

I hit the first mile marker at about 9 minutes on my watch. I used the bathroom at the 2nd mile marker before the Hayes Street Hill. Took my time on the hill, so I think that my pacing was great - the sun was starting to come up and I was starting to feel the heat by the top of the hill. But once I hit Fell Street and then went into the fog of Golden Gate Park, I felt great and picked up the pace. Every time I saw a naked person, I'd speed up and try and pass him. Some of them were actually pretty fast!
What would you do differently?:

Train for more than a month beforehand. This is my second race in two weekends, and only my second race overall. I've only been training about 4 weeks now. I felt really good about the race today though. I'm happy with how I performed overall.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around the Footstock expo and picked up lots of samples and stuff.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training, experience

Course: This is really a San Francisco race, with lots of booze and partying going on in full costume (or full nudity). The people along the course are out early and they're cheering on the runners while waiting for the real party to start. Its a lot of fun!
