Subject: RE: Anyone try the 13 weeks to a 13 hour ironman plan I pretty much followed Gale's 13 Weeks to a Sub 13 Hour Ironman for my first IM in 2002. The "Sub 13 Hour" plan, as you might imagine, kicks things up a notch with more total volume. I tweaked the plan a bit to dial up the cycling a bit and dial back on the swimming a bit. It got me to the finish line in under 12 hours. It's a pretty solid plan, I think, as a final ramp up to race day. It's not "cramming" all the training into 13 weeks since, of course, as you need a decent base already established to start the plan. Just a nice guide for ramping up to your biggest training weeks. |
