Total Time = 4h 13m 47s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = F40-45
Age Group Rank = 1/2
Swim
  • 43m 30s
  • 2000 meters
  • 02m 10s / 100 meters
Comments:

it was more like a wade/fight weeds/swim/fight weeds/wade repeat than a swim. quite comical actually. i didn't stress too much about it. swim was about 10mins slower than usual and i was happy to come out sub 45.
What would you do differently?:

swim harder when i could actually swim
Transition 1
  • 01m 48s
What would you do differently?:

nothing. i was the fastest of the girls at this part.
Bike
  • 1h 52m 42s
  • 60 kms
  • 31.94 km/hr
Comments:

i'm not used to having to stay in one gear and in one position for so long. the one overpass was welcome relief. i rode strong the entire way and am completely happy with my ride
Transition 2
  • 02m 38s
Comments:

i was slow. my pony holder broke so i had to get my spare and i tried (unsuccessfully) to get some of the sand off my feet.
What would you do differently?:

get the sand off my feet.
Run
  • 1h 33m
  • 15 kms
  • 06m 12s  min/km
Comments:

ran the first loop. slowly. by the second my feet were blistering, my socks soaked (smartwool - not so smart) and there was one stretch that was mentally tough. it was slightly windy, sunny with no breeze and not seeing where it ended defeated me.
What would you do differently?:

stay mentally stronger.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

nothing much i could have done to go faster. the swim was due to conditions and the run was due to my bad judgement with sock choice and not cleaning my feet off better. and to be honest, the weather up until recently hasn't been this hot so i'll chalk it up to a good day of heat acclimation.

Event comments:

this was a great event. i'm really hoping that Fred sticks out the growing pains and keeps this series going.

Nice race! Yeah, that was the strangest swim/treadwater/wade/walkonwater I've ever seen in a triathlon .
