Woke up at 3am and prep for the race. Drove to the race site -- a 2+ hour drive. Arrive at the park with 45 minutes to set up transition area.
Event warmup:

Stretched and took a gel pack. Chatted with some buddies. Not feeling any racing mood at all.

Comments:

My goal was to give it all I have in this race. And I did. My legs felt like jello throughout the entire race. Bad sign but managed to put in a good personal time. There were many blazing fast duathletes ..... wow...
What would you do differently?:

keep training ..... and must spend more time to prep mentally before the race.

What would you do differently?:

must pay more attention to transition training for sprint events!

Comments:

I was not looking forward for hill rides since I just completed half ironman du at macon last weekend. However, I paced my race well and finished strong ... as strong as I could muster out from my tired quads. My body refused to ingest any nutrition at all .... strange day. Just off my goal by 2 minutes .... drats!
What would you do differently?:

Hydrate more and take care of nutrition.
Transition 2
  • 01m 15s
Comments:

What a mess. Almost dropped my bike as I was running to my bike rack ... my feet was faster than my hands...coordination was off .....
What would you do differently?:

keep pauing attention to details....
Run

Comments:

Bonked..... but I kept my pace steady. Garmin died on me so I must run by feel .... at this point I just want to quit. I guess I am feeling the fatigue from last weekend's long race and lack of sleep prior to race day. I gave all I had .. I was shocked that I am actually off 2 minutes on my set goal here. I thought I will do worse .... I take this result any day. Laboring run. I know I can do better.
What would you do differently?:

Keep training and try to stay loose and focus.
Post race
Warm down:

Hydrate and ate. Cheered others.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Fatigue and lack of sleep.

Event comments:

It's always fun to race in TRI The Park Series .... it's becoming my summer routine.

There were plenty of blazing fast athletes in this event this year. Amazing to watch the speedsters zip ahead of me .... it certainly gave me more incentive to train harder. I gave my best today but still managed to rank in the middle of the overall group. Great race. I was lucky enough to get bump up a few places in my age group after the overall classification. I was not expecting any hardware at all. First and second overall men is from my AG. The first place AG winner is actually fourth overall.... I am in good company ... AG 35-39 representing!!!

By the by, I did enjoy racing in front of the pack -- no crowding issues especially during the bike ride. So peaceful. So nice. The first triathlete pass me in mile 6 of the bike course. Later a few speedsters in mile 10. I know this is a rarity -- I will cherish the moment .....

Keep up the good work Blue Sky Sports ..... see you in Indian Springs.
