Subject: 6'8" newbie looking for bike

Hey ya'll,

New to the sport, just finishing up my college basketball career and looking to get into some tris on the side before I get into it seriously when I am done.

I need help finding a bike, whether it be a sale or site, or someone to talk to to fit my frame (6'8" and 240 pounds, probably will be down to 235 for racing weight).

As I am a student, I am not looking for something top of the line but a good beginner bike to help me get started.

Thank you for any input.

Hi. Welcome to BT.

I think you are going to have trouble finding a used bike, or even a stock bike, but good news is that there are a lot of custom builders around. Let me know if you want any recommendations.

I'd suggest finding out what ballpark size frame you'd need and then checking out which manufacturers may make a frame that size if you want a stock frame.

Sorry, I just noticed that you were looking for a recommendation for a fitter. If you want a fit, you could definitely call up Rob at South Shore Cycle in Delta. He's a certified serrota fitter. He could then probably help you to find a bike that would fit. He's hooked me up with a custom bike builder for my track bike. I have the opposite problem of you (short legs )

The guys at obsession bikes on the North Shore are pretty good too (at least as I can tell for a ballpark fit), but from what I can tell they don't have as good of tools as South Shore Cycle.
