I summited Rainier last year and even though hikers climb to Camp Muir every day it is still no easy task and as it has been said one has to prepare for the worse.. This August my military unit, only 5 of us, are climbing a 14,000 footer in Colorado. Looking forward to it.

Who would think to be prepared for 2 feet of snow in June, but I guess it is better safe than sorry.

Prayers and well wishes to the families involved.

 It's a sad thing for the climber's family but the key word here is "think".  It doesn't matter what time of year it is up here, you should be prepared for inclement weather.  At 10,000 feet it can snow year round, to say nothing of the fact that this weather system had been forecast for several days.  You have to respect the mountains and pay attention constantly or you'll end up like this guy.  Shame he went out like this.
