![]() Swim
Comments: Just like last year at this distance I was left everyone elses wake within the 1st couple of minutes. Kept on course to the 1st turn buoy fairly well with it being easy to sight off the nuclear cooling towers. After the turn it was hard to see the next buoys and since I was basicly swimming alone I ended up swimming off to the left and into no mans land. Knew I was in trouble when I saw the guy in a kayak, swore to myself, found the buoy and headed back on course. Turned the 2nd buoy toward shore and followed swimmers from the later waves into shore. What would you do differently?: swim straighter ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Tried taking my wetsuit top off while running to tranisition and ran into the taped off barrier. Had no problems getting the bottoms off for once but for the life of me could not get my right shoe on. Got the left on no problem but right just did not want to go on my foot. What would you do differently?: learned to start the bike with shoes clipped in though I say this in every race report so maybe I should start practicing. ![]() Bike
Comments: Kept an even effort for the entire ride. Got passed by quite a few riders and only passed a couple. Stayed aero for about 75% of the ride and felt pretty good. The incline coming back into the park took a little out of me. This was my fastest ride of the year. :) What would you do differently?: not push as hard to save something for the run ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Socks and shoes on grabbed the garmin off the bike adn put hat and number belt on on the way out of transition What would you do differently?: nothing went very smooth ![]() Run
Comments: started off feeling pretty good on the run. made it the 1st 30 minutes running the whole way except for walking the aide stations. At about the start of mile 4 is when the wheels fell off. had to start walking quite a bit and the heart rate would shoot up whenever I'd start running again. Decided to run the downhills and most of flats and walk the uphills. Sprinted to the finish and passed 1 guy at the end and beat him by 1 second :) What would you do differently?: not go so hard on the bike wear my fuel belt on the run and take a gel or 2 with me ![]() Post race
Warm down: grabbed some water jumped in the lake to cool down then grabbed some chocolate milk and gatorade for recovery. What limited your ability to perform faster: the heat on the run going too hard on the bike no real speed work Last updated: 2007-10-28 12:00 AM
