Swim
  • 11m 50s
  • 400 meters
  • 02m 58s / 100 meters
What would you do differently?:

Completely underestimated how long the swim would take. Was being passed before the first 50 meters was over. Took breaks each 50 to allow the faster swimmers to pass. 12 min. what was I thinking.
Transition 1
  • 05m 35s
Comments:

Coban wrap to right calf prior to getting on bike. After a disappointing swim, it was nice to see at least one bike left in my staging area. Not the last one out, the second to the last one out.
What would you do differently?:

Was working with a calf tear. It didn't stop me, but it sure slowed me down.
Bike
  • 51m 2s
  • 20 kms
  • 23.51 km/hr
Transition 2
  • 01m 43s
Comments:

Locked up rear tire coming up to the mat. Scared the hell out of a couple of guys on road bikes.
What would you do differently?:

May try removing shoes as I come up to the final section.
Run
  • 42m 8s
  • 5 kms
  • 08m 26s  min/km
Comments:

Could not push off with right foot effectively because of calf tear. Hurt it one week prior to the sprint. Gave all I had last 1/2 mile. Sprinting last 100 yards. Knew I was hurting calf but I wanted to finish strong.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Injured right calf.

Event comments:

Now that I have completed my first Sprint Tri, I know I need to work more than two weeks to get in shape. The run was the worst part. Couldn't push off without pain. This also limited my fast-walk.

Hey, way to battle through the calf injury! I can't imagine the run with an injury like that! Very inspiring.

Way to push thru.  Don't forget to take care of yourself and let that calf heal, though.

Hey, I did this race too. It was my first tri. Didn't you love going from the pool to the 40 degree temps? Good job pushing through the injury. Hope you're doing better.
