Subject: PDA and surfing the internet

Does anyone have a PDA and surfs the internet with it?  I'm in the market for one and was wondering how easy and/or expensive it was the surf the web on one.  If it was complicated or too expensive (like do you have to pay a monthly internet subscription like at your house) I was going to get one that doesn't have that feature because there is a price difference.

Also, any brand recommendations for PDA?  My friend suggested palm.

I have a Toshiba e405 that runs MS PocketPC. I got it mostly because it's the thinnest PDA I could find and it looks really good, and after 5 months spent in a nasty development project for the Palm I was sick of staring at Palm Pilots.

Both devices have pros and cons, and I like them for different reasons. Both now have browsers that let you surf the web pretty normally, and I think both have expansion slots that accept a wi-fi card. I don't know about connecting to the internet with them any other way. I think you either have to have a Palm that's got some kind of dialler in it and subscribe to their service (maybe they stopped doing that?? I don't know) or you have to connect thru your cell phone or some such. I could be showing my extreme ignorance here, that's just my impression of how it works.

What do you mostly want it for? I'd consider that and surf around to make sure that either platform will have the apps you're interested in before making a final decision.
Happy shopping....

I surf the net on my Blackberry. Works pretty well as soon as I configured it to not show pictures.

I can sell, list, and buy stuff on e-bay and even feed my BT addiction!
