Subject: Training for my first TRI! Hello Everybody,
I've been on this site (training log ) for a couple of weeks and reading alot of great stuff from everybody. Just thought I'd say THANKS to all for some great advise and to Ron for this wounderful training aid. I decided to try a "TRI" a few month back to help get back in shape. I'm a firefighter and have been letting myself go since the birth of our Triplets five years ago. I explained to my wife what I wanted to do and the next thing I know she has signed us up at the YMCA and enrolled me in the Y's Tri-Group. The group has help greatly and my wife, I can't say enough, she has backed me from day one w/ proper meals, books (Triathlon 101 ) and alotting time to train. Hope to complete my first Tri in may here in Texas. I do have a question if anyone could help? The traning workout for running states to run 2 miles for the first 2 1/2 weeks. I can run 2 miles w/ an 8.5 / 9 min/mile with a heart rate in the 80% to 85%, but I don't think I can kept that pace for anything over 2 miles. If I slow the pace and run 2 mile will I still be getting an benifits from the run? Thanks & Have a great day. |
