Bummer about the riptides but better to live to race another day! Saw on the news that 20 or so people had to be pulled out of Belmar.

I did this race too (Olympic distance). I can understand why they cancelled the swim and I wasn't really looking forward to an ocean swim anyway. I found that this event was very poorly run. I agree that the transition area was a joke...people on top of each other. The bike course was technical and pot holes at most of the turns. Then, I find out that I can run a 5K in 16 minutes (they changed it to a du, and broke up the 10K)!!?!?! So the distances were way off. Pathetic t-shirt and post race activities (bananas and fruit salad) for a $90 race. I would not suggest any Sunset Racing-ran events.
