Run
Comments: I wasn't looking forward to this, took off when they said go and ran this faster than I thought I could and harder than I should have. Ran it with my swim cap and goggles on which got a ton of chuckles which was good with the morning I had. Did the first .25 at a 5:57 pace and had to tell myself to SLOW down. What would you do differently?: Not have to run instead of swim. Transition 1
Comments: This wasn't too bad, but it wasn't great either. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Bike
Comments: This is where my day took another crappy turn. Headed out of transition and started to hammer. Could not figure out why in the hell I could not get my speed up and was having a hell of a time getting up the first hill. Well I started to figure it out when I went to hit the breaks to turn into the first subdivision. I hit the rear brake and I could not budge it. Rode about another 2 miles or so until I decided to get off the bike and find out what the hell was going on. Got off and found out that my rear brake had seized up on the rim. Took about 2 minutes to get the break loose enough to ride. Ended up riding with no break for the rest of the ride. After that problem we all had to deal with the winds which were brutal. Amazed that I kept the pace I did with this wind and it took a TON out of me for the second run. What can I say, you cannot plan for the morning that I ended up having. The brake problem cost me about 2 minutes and 4 positions in my AG. What would you do differently?: Not have an effin break problem. Transition 2
Comments: Good T-2 What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Suprised with how this run went. Felt like ass for the whole run but ended up laying down a decent time for me. After the race and morning that I had I was ready for this race to be done and I am really happy with this run when all was said and done. What would you do differently?: Not have to deal with the rest of the shat that i did this morning. Post race
Warm down: Walk around and talk to the other donks that were at the race as well as a coworker, my brother and a good friend from high school. What limited your ability to perform faster: Break lock-up, wind, no warmup. Last updated: 2008-03-02 12:00 AM

Well we were informed earlier this week that this was going to be a Duathlon as Pewaukee Lake had too much algae in it. So I said OK Fine, lets just go have a good time, see what happens and just go with the flow.
SO I get up on time, 3:45, eat, finish getting shat ready and get everything loaded. Put the bike on the rack and put the lock on that I use to make sure that even if something happens to the rack that the bike is still attached to the car. Head inside and wait for Danielle to get ready and we head out. Leave the house just before 5 which was the goal, so I was happy. I had noticed earlier in the morning that the wind seemed to be picking up and had checked the weather channel and they were saying 20 MPH winds gusting to 30. So I start thinking GREAT, tri-spoke and disc cover are going to be awesome in the wind. As we got closer to the race site I got over the wind and decided that there was nothing I could do, just have fun and everything will be fine.
Pull into the parking lot really close to transition and in a great place to be able to exit after the race. Get out of the car and go around back to take the bike off and get stuff out of the trunk. Pull my keys out of my pocket and go to reach for the key to the lock that is holding my bike to my car. THERE IS NO F&^^ING KEY. I look around in the car and can not find the key anywhere. SO I am thinking well this is just effing great what the hell am I supposed to do. Decide to jump back in the car and run home, since we were there early enough that this was an option, and look for the key quickly. Thinking they must have fallen somewhere in the kitchen as that is where they were sitting. Plus we have an extra key so if we had to we could just use that. Well, we get home and can't find either set, so now I am really pissed off. Go in the basement, get the sawz-all out and time to cut the cable holding the car on. Get that done and we are back on the road. End up getting back to the race with 30 minutes to spare and try to get calmed down and get my transition setup.
See above.
