Total Time = 1h 25m 29s
Overall Rank = 234/1329
Age Group = M25-29
Age Group Rank = 16/70
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at about 4:10. A little tired but not too bad. At first not super excited, more nervous the result would be bad, but then got a little excited. Had the normal, 2 egg sandwhiches (3 egg whites, 1 egg, 4 pieces bread, hint of bbq sauce (I know, crazy but it works)), splash of coffee, orange juice, and about 1-2 water bottles of water before the race.
Event warmup:

Actually did a warmup. Usually I just swim about 100-200 meters, but this time ran about 8 minutes, then stretched. Then finished getting transition ready. Ran to the porta-johns stretched again and was ready to roll, except I was in Wave 15, so I had to stand around, which didn't help, but I was definitely stretched and warm.
Run
  • 10m 35s
  • 1.3 miles
  • 08m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

Took this out at a decent pace but didn't want to push it too hard. I tried to run hard, but just enough to keep my HR from exploding.
What would you do differently?:

Push myself harder. If I am doing 7:45 at the end and 8:08 at the beginning, I could have pushed it a bit harder without affecting myself at the end.
Transition 1
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

Pretty good transition had to weave through some traffic as I came out but overall not bad.
What would you do differently?:

Sign up earlier so my slot is closer to the exit and I don't have to run 500 yards.
Bike
  • 47m 29s
  • 16.4 miles
  • 20.72 mile/hr
Comments:

I told myself to really stay focused on the bike and do a nice job. I stuck to it and pretty much had a nice ride. I stayed strong with the big ring most of the ride, and only one hill did I let really slow me down. I took advantage of the downhills and stayed aero pretty much the whole time.
What would you do differently?:

Sign up earlier so I am out with the earlier bikers. I was stuck going through traffic which at times slowed me down a bit.

Drink more.

No real complaints. I am sure I could have improved a lot of things, but overall, it was pretty good.
Transition 2
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

Pretty good getting into transition, but getting bike racked and shoes on took longer than it should have.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, my running shoes are usually sitting ready for me to use, but with this one, I had already run and just thrown them down not thinking about the next time I needed them.
Run
  • 24m 13s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

I kept a good steady pace and did not let the hills beat me. I ran up them and pushed myself to continue to run harder. I think that is a pace I can keep for a longer run, I just need to be focused.

At the beginning of the run I had to stop for about 30-45 seconds to fix my race number.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, the run was pretty strong. I think in a longer race I will need to drink more water/gatorade.

Be more careful so I don't rip my race number and have to stop and re-pin it.
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing, just stretched a little and stood around.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Location in transition and inability to transition faster, could have easily shaved one minute off my time.

Event comments:

I thought this race was pretty well done.

Bummed we didn't get to meet at the race.  Great job however.  How'd you like that swim.  Tough one, huh?  See around the circuit.
