Pre-race routine:

Got up had an espresso, PB&J and Ensure while driving to race site. Set up transition and tried to stay calm.
Event warmup:

Walking doen to the swim and back, yes it was far enough to be considered a warmup!!
Swim
  • 21m 42s
  • 1760 yards
  • 01m 14s / 100 yards
Comments:

Great swim! Again went hard for 1st 200-300 yards and found a fast pair of feet to follow. Felt like I wasn't pushing but couldn't pass him so I just settled in and swam.

While I would love to think I swam this pace, I think the course may have been a little short.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 05m 16s
Comments:

T1 included about a 2/10 or more mile run uphill on a gravel road to transition which to say the least added considerably to my time. No I didn't take a nap in T1!! ;)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 1h 09m 45s
  • 23.8 miles
  • 20.47 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt great on the bike, took it easy on the hills and got passed but seemed to catch everyone that passed me on the flats. Just tried to keep watts even throughout the whole ride.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 01m 3s
Comments:

Nothing special just got ready to run.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 49m 10s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 07m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt good on the run, was able to keep pace where I wanted to and w/ the humidity could not have pushed it much further. Only 2 people passed me on the run, which is a first for me and I passed 2 right out ot transition. One of which was hammering all the hills on the bike and I would catch him on the flats. I was actually wondering how he was going to do on the run, because each time he would hammer past me on the hills I would think to myself he is bruning another match!!!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Water, Water, Water and Watermelon!!! A little food and once I found out I place 3rd AG stuck around for the awards, just to hear my name called, never had that happen before!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

This is a PB by about 2 minutes on a tough course so I would say nothing, maybe the heat.

Event comments:

Would do this again , well organized and a pretty course.
