Owen Sound or Toronto Island tri or du? Any input on the venue, routes, etc. - thanks!

Did the toronto tri last year.  The water was a good temp. the day before the event but a windy evening turned the water over and by morning the water temp was 54 F.  They cancelled the swim and turned it into a du.  The bike course consists of several loops (3or 4, I can't remember) and very flat.  You will likely do a PB ave. pace.  Pre- race was spent waiting in lots of long lines.  I understand that a lot of the bugs have been worked out for this year.  I'm planning to volunteer at the race this year as I'm racing my first 1/2 iron distance the week before.

I haven't done the Owen Sound yet but I have heard from others who have that a wet suit is a must. The water is supposed to be quite cold.

I know the KOS swim was cancelled last year and made a du due to the water temps in the low 50's. Wetsuit will be with me.

I'm planning to do the Give-it-a-Tri at Toronto Island (if I ever get around to registering!!).   I'm thinking it will be pretty flat.

TORONTO ISLAND TRIATHLON WEEKEND

I just got back in town from the Toronto Island Triathlon 2008. Water temperature was great! and weather conditions were perfect, if anything....too hot. The water had few waves and the course was one simple lap. Transition area was well organized and signs led you easily through T1-2.

The bike course was 3 laps of a 10k course, the course was completely flat and well paved and always enough room for passing with and against riders. The run was brutally hot and i sweat my balls off because it was 90% across grass!! it was an intensly humid 2 laps of 3.75KM loop. There was 279 participants and all went well. The racer of the day package was amazing and all the door prizes were crazy good!! Oraganization was perfect and they offered massage, food, and drinks afterwards. I never made it to the Try-a-tri the day before but im sure all went well there too.

Swim 750m     Bike 30k     Run 7.5k

Winning time 1:29:00  -----> Pro from south africa
My time      1:38:41 13th overall

 Top 3 times were below 1:33 ...... 4-15th were all within 1:36-1:40
