Who's in?

Too warm for wetsuits last year...I'm supposing it'll be pretty close this year as well...

I will be there again. It's my favorite of the year.

Wetsuits or not, it makes no difference to me. I have never worn one in the 6 years I have done tris.

It's a crutch for me......I like the extra buoyancy...

Hey, I'll be there! Just rode the course this morning. I couldn't figure out where our beach is though... got as close as I could according to a map I had, and all the roads I saw were "no lake access..."
Hoping we can use wetsuits, mostly because I want to give my new one a try in a race

The lake access is off Hodgson Road at Turtle Lake Park. There is a slight downhill to the lake.

'Slight' is an understatement.  This is a different T1.  They allow you to ride your bike out of transition.  That's the reason for the 'no pedal' zone going back INTO the transition (T2).  It's so you don't collide with the bikers still coming up the hill.

Make sure your bike is geared low when you set up at transition.

There was plenty of parking across the street from the park if you get there early...

I'm in, but not racing.  Decided to do a large bike/run volume this weekend instead.  This knocks me out from defending my MMS age group title from last year since I will only have 4 scoring races after Pigman HIM.  Good luck everyone.

You'll always be the champ in my mind, Birkie. Way to let someone else bask in the glory this yr. You can knock 'em off next yr.

Of course when Birkie says 'he's not racing,' he'll still put any of my RACE times to shame...seesh he's fast...

Thanks for the well wishes...

ONE of us understood that. Come on Sal!

I know you well enough that if you're on the starting line you RACE. If you say you're not racing, you're not showing up.

Don't worry Sal.  I'm still confused by the "I'm in" comment.  Have a great race.

I'm in = I'm registered (and wasted a registration fee...since I'm "not racing"...which means "I'm not going"...clear as mud, eh? )

There should be a swim area right off the beach.  Heh.  Ramsey County actually has a park website: http://www.co.ramsey.mn.us/NR/rdonlyres/2A6C7DEB-7C73-4878-A632-18FEA355C095/6017/ParkOrdinance.pdf

Here's the ordinance...we might need to ask B-One his opinion about this ordinance , and I really think you need to pay attention to ordinance #2 :

SECTION B – SWIMMING

It shall be unlawful for any person to:

1. Bathe, wade or swim in any park waters, except in such areas specifically designated for such use;

2. Intentionally expose his or her genitals, pubic area, buttocks or female breasts below the top of the areola with less than a fully opaque covering while wading, swimming or using any beach or other area within a park, if ten (10) years of age or older;

3. Take glass bottles or glass containers of any kind into a designated beach area;

4. Start or maintain a fire or grill in a designated beach area;

5. Scuba dive in a designated swimming area, except by written authorization from the Director; or

6. Bring into or use at any beach any innertube, life raft or other inflatable or buoyant object intended to support a person, except U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets or vests when properly attached.

There were quite a few weeds last year, right by the beach, but you're through them in less than 50 yds.  There's a sand bar (with some sharp rocks) about 400 yds out.  We'll swim right over the top of it going out and again coming back in.  The water level was low enough last year where a few people walked across the sandbar.  Water is nice a clear, though.  Good lake to draft in (you can see people's feet in front of you).

Good luck tomorrow.

Good luck everyone.  Turtleman's a fairly small race.  I saw Bryan (mndiver), Kelly (lumpy), Rodger (rabkaman) and Tom (Matchman) all within the first half hour of set-up in transition last year.

I'll be the short (5'6) Filipino guy that doesn't look like he has any business doing triathlons.

I'll have on my General Mills Bike & Tri Club top (blue & purple).  Can't miss it...it's got Booberry, Count Chocula and Frankenberry on the back.  Don't be afraid to tap me on the shoulder and say hi, or just yell 'sparco' or Sal.

If it's cold, I'll throw on my white BT tee.  I've got sparco written across it.
