Overcast
Total Time = 56m 21s
Overall Rank = 1098/1121
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 76/78
Pre-race routine:

Strength training 2x/week; walk/jog 3-4x/week
Event warmup:

Was running late so couldn't do too good a warmup. Stretched my legs and marched/jogged in place. Felt good - was windy and cool, overcast and sprinkly.
Run
  • 56m 21s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 18m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

I was shocked at how much running I was able to do. The first mile was the hardest. I felt I hit my stride halfway to the 2nd mile - and I ran more during my last mile than the previous 2 miles.
What would you do differently?:

I will train more consistently and eat/drink more.
Post race
Warm down:

Should've done more stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

This was my first race. I have a long way to go in my quest toward my first triathalon. So my only limiting factor was that my experience is only just beginning. Thankfully, I was strong mentally during the race. So nothing limited my performance.

Event comments:

I loved my first 5K experience. It was very exciting. Met some interesting people - and I did my absolute personal best! We even had some celebs participating (Emilio Estefan, Jon Secada, Romero Britto). Can't wait for my next event!
