Subject: RE: Covington Century 8/2 haha- I've ridden a few 2 hour rides since May- so I don't know how long I will stay on the main group. Last year, I didn't have enough water with me, so around 85miles, I tried to stop quickly, reload, and then try to catch back onto to the 4hr express. Didn't happen, and I struggled to the finish, worn out. Those last 15miles, people were getting shelled off the back like peanuts b/c of the heat.
The main group is a lot of fun and not too difficult if you sit in. Some spots you will have to grit your teeth and hang on (on some rollers ), but its' the fact that they don't stop at all that makes it difficult- especially if you don't have enough liquids..
Also- be carefull of the railroad crossing near the end of the 100 ride. There was a good wreck in the main pack.
I'm starting at 8 with the group. Come join Andrew- you'll be done with 100 in just over 4hrs....
I agree wtih what Dan said about the food.- just your basic spaghetti, bread and salad wtih lemonade/tea/water. I'm bringing a beer for post ride and my own grub I think |
