Yellow Jacket Racing
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 46m 44s
Overall Rank = 106/220
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 17/26
Pre-race routine:

Relaxed and chatted with the family. I listened to my pre-race song before that and got my mind frame right for the race.
Event warmup:

Did about a 150m swim
Swim
  • 17m 26s
  • 800 meters
  • 02m 11s / 100 meters
Comments:

Felt great in the swim. I was just very surprised at how slow the time was, as it felt very strong.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 01m 38s
Comments:

I had the dreaded wetsuit getting stuck on my heels. Considering the hell I was going through with that, I can't complain about the overall T1 time.

I do like that Yellowjacket does not include the time from the beach to the transition area as part of either the swim or T1, they make it their own separate leg of the race. Then again it hurts to see it took longer to get to transition than transition :).
What would you do differently?:

not get upset with the wetsuit.
Bike
  • 44m 59s
  • 15 miles
  • 20.01 mile/hr
Comments:

at about mile 5 I heard something that was either a small leak in the front tire or the break rubbing a little. While riding I moved the break around a little, and thought the sound had stopped. Guess I was wrong, as the bike speeds stayed high, but it felt tougher as it went on. I guess I had a leak, as the tire was flat later on. Guess I was lucky to make it through the bike without completely flatting.
What would you do differently?:

Not get a leak in my tire... can I control that one?
Transition 2
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

Well... I got the bike shoes off quick, put on my socks and put my running shoes on. All is well except for all of the rocks inside my shoe from when I put my foot down quick. Decided to not run with rocks in my shoes and fixed it. Too bad it hurt my T2 time.
What would you do differently?:

Be quicker :).
Run
  • 39m 39s
  • 4 miles
  • 09m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

Still my weak point. I felt good during the run for the most part though.
What would you do differently?:

LOSE WEIGHT!!!!
Post race
Warm down:

water over the head... is that a good warm down?

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Leaky tires, the run, and my legs felt dead the whole race.

Event comments:

Yellowjacket really does a good job with these "smaller" races. They make the most out of the resources they have. Boots and Ellen always put on a good show.
