Total Time = 1h 04m 16s
Overall Rank = 298/988
Age Group = 34
Age Group Rank = 8/73
Pre-race routine:

Woke up early showered packed up the stuff ate half a banana and went to start; got last parking space in lot near transition; unloaded stuff and walked to transition; set up transition area looked around; listened to Ipod (Sanstorm and Scorponok attack from Transformers score)
Event warmup:

Stretched - usual warmup
Swim
  • 10m 27s
  • 750 meters
  • 01m 23s / 100 meters
Comments:

This was my first time in open ocean since I was 12. Had to dodge waves and got swept under 2 times; I think I was 5th out of water in my age group - so not bad considering
What would you do differently?:

Learn to swim in open ocean; dive under waves and dolphin dive the end; practice open ocean swimming
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

The splits did not break down times for transiton so I am not sure how it was calculated
What would you do differently?:

Need to learn to get into shoes on bike and take wetsuit off faster
Bike
  • 31m 5s
  • 9 miles
  • 17.37 mile/hr
Comments:

Ok so looking at the breakdown I know my transition time was calculated into this because the Garmin said I averaged about 19.9 mph; given the flat course I feel like my bike time was really slow
What would you do differently?:

Get faster on the bike - again another poor bike performance where I was at least 3-4 minutes behind....UGHHHH
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Felt fast off the bike and transitioned quick
What would you do differently?:

Learn to dismount moving bike. With sprained ankle though it wasnt gonna happen this race
Run
  • 22m 44s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

Again sprained ankle really limited my ability to hammer this part. Felt ok until the end and couldn't push it last 440 meters. Good support and lots of fluid; good crowd at the end
What would you do differently?:

Not have sprained ankle and push it
Post race
Warm down:

Ended up in medical tent icing my foot for about 15 minutes

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Practice open ocean swimming; not have sprained ankle 1 week before event

Event comments:

Again kudos to KOZ! A well organized race.

Molly - Nice job out there top 10 in your AG in yor second race is a good showing.

The bike will come, you just need more time in the sport building the biek endurance. I had the same problem last year in my fiest year it was always my bike that let me down.

Great job and get some rest to heal up that ankle!

Wicked fast times out there. You destroyed everything in your training. You ran really fast out there.
