Swim
Comments: I lost quite a bit of time on the run into the lake and the first 300 meters or so, but got into a groove afterwards and had a decent time from there. Overall, this was a pretty average swim. What would you do differently?: Warm up in advance and hit the water running. Transition 1
Comments: I breezed through transition in a minute flat, which wasn't bad for how long the transition area was. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: I don't know where to start here... This was just a bad ride all around. To begin with, I had to pretty much disassemble my bike to fit it into the back of the Sequoia to drive down on Friday night. It was dark when we got there, and the motel had very bad lighting. I didn't realize it until the race, but I put my seat about 1/2 inch too low. I also had my cable housing compress by 1 cm or so, which threw my gearing off (couldn't get into my smallest 4 gears on the back) and cause my chain to drop 2x in a row at the start of the race. Overall, I think I lost 2-4 minutes due to these issues. What would you do differently?: Get to Blanco earlier and make sure that I have time to properly assemble my bike! Transition 2
Comments: The only issue here is that I couldn't see the transition area when it was coming up, because it was around a corner. By the time I saw it, I had almost no time to get the shoes off and jump off the bike. I ended up having to slow too much. What would you do differently?: Know the course Run
Comments: This was not a good run for me. I'm not sure what went wrong (perhaps the high humidity?), but it was a solid 3-4 minutes slower than I thought I should have been able to do. I've really been struggling with my running lately. What would you do differently?: Not sure. Just didn't have it in me. Post race
Warm down: Crashed on a blanket on the grass for a while and drank some juice. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bike issues primarily, but overall I just didn't feel great today. Event comments: This was a decent small race, but certainly not as well put on as some of the bigger productions. Last updated: 2008-07-29 12:00 AM

Not a lot of time before the race because of a long walk and registration process. I basically set up transition, did a very brief bike check and headed off to the swim.
I had no warmup time.
