Age Group Rank = 8/13
Pre-race routine:

Woke up 5:30 am ouche.
Event warmup:

Minor stretching.
Swim
  • 34m 19s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 05s / 100 yards
Comments:

It was a good swim for me being pretty new to swimming (only been doing freestlye for 2 months) and made it the whole way strong.
What would you do differently?:

Just getting in better shape swim wize, maybe a little cleaner on staying close to the lines of the course and maybe some drafting when I get faster.
Transition 1
  • 02m 57s
Comments:

Had some problems here. My wetsuit got caught on the timeing chip band and it took me a minuite to figure out why the suit would not come off my heal. I had to backtrack, take the band off, take the suit off and then put the band back on. I also had some trouble getting my shirt on, it all rolled up as I put it on.
What would you do differently?:

Get that wetsuit off quicker and either not wear a shirt or have it on before the swim. I also forgot my race number belt at home so I had to put the number on my shirt, so I had to wear my shirt and couldnt have it on during the swim.
Bike
  • 1h 15m 31s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.74 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike was good, had a steady pace and did a personal best on time.
What would you do differently?:

I could have eaten a slight bit more during the bike.
Transition 2
  • 01m 23s
Comments:

This was a really good transition for me.
What would you do differently?:

Not much different I could do without changing to different bike shoes.
Run
  • 52m 31s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Some cramping in my side for last 3 miles, ran through it ok. I was able to get up to speed on the first mile well, and held pace as well as I could at fitness level, was able to kick the last 3/10ths of a mile to beat out someone in my age group 8).
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, just improve fitness.
Post race
Warm down:

Minor strethcing, kisses for the wife, plenty of fluids and food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Minor issues in t1, and overall fitness. I was very happy overall with this being my first Oly and 2nd tri (first was reversse sprint). Much room for improvement in swimming.

Event comments:

It would have been nice if they had some bananas or something at the aid stations, they only had water and gator aid.

Overall, well run event.

The training plan on BT helped my first OLY to be a great experience. I finished every event at a personal best and an overall time much faster than I had expected

you did great, congrats!  I am impressed with the swim time considering how new that is to you.  I have my first oly next month and I am excited/nervous.
