Subject: Vegas to Indian Springs Ride?

Looking through some of the Vegas group rides I found one listed from Vegas to Indian Springs.   In looking at the map and riding part of the access road near Mt. Charleston it looks like this follows highway 95 after the Kyle Canyon turnoff.   Do people just ride the highway shoulder?   I didn't see any separate road or side path to take.

The map link is Map

Anyone done this?

The shoulder on 95 is about 5-6 feet wide and well maintained asphalt so very comfortable to ride and relatively safe when the tractor trailers pass.

You can pick up the on the 95 North of Durango.  Always seems to be a strong headwind on the way back...

SW Bikes does a Sunday morning ride out there, if you don't want to go it alone.

SW Bikes is where I saw the mention of the group ride and wondered about the highway part.  I typically bike frontage road that ends at the Paiute reservation.  Saw someone the other morning take the highway turn towards the Kyle Canyon road and started wondering about the ride further north.    Thanks for the info!

Actually I am the president of that club at SWB's. We ride along the shoulder and is very safe. Their are some debries, and you can get a chance to practice flats, but not that often. Ride is awesome, and very nice. Will ride up to Kyle, up to mountain and back, or to Indian Springs and even all the way to Mercury (NTS) and back. Creech has restocking for food and water for out, then back and then home. Great rides if you want slow rolling hills. Good speed work.
