| Swim
Comments: I started off just finding my rythm. This is always hard in a pools swim with multiple people in your lane. I quickly passed the two people who had started in front of me, and realized that I was swimming pretty good today. I did get passed by the last person in my lane right at the end. In the outdoor pool, I felt great. I was swimming with really good form. Head down. Passed 4 people in my lane one of which had already swam a full lap by the time I got in. I was cruising. What would you do differently?: Put a more aggressive time down for my swim time. Transition 1
Comments: Good quick transition. Felt good. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: The first 1/4 of this course I knew I was climbing well. I felt relaxed and was making great time. I knew that if I pushed I could have a good race. This is where I get really competitive with myself. I pushed this pretty hard. Passed a ton of people and didn't get passed at all. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: I got back to transition and some jacka## had moved my stuff and put his bike where mine was supposed to go. So I just racked my bike on my transition towel. Needless to say when I came back after the race my bike had been moved down the rack. I almost just trashed this guys bike. Luckily I was in a good mood by this point. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: I ran this course last weekend, and am glad I did. I knew where the hills were and where I could push. There are 3 major hills. Not super long, but steep. And each one is soft gravel. Which is wierd since the rest of the course is concrete or asphalt. I felt great out here. First mile was 8 min. Next was ~8:30. The third was 7:30 and the last half was 3:30. That means I was running a 7 min. mile at the end of my run. (granted it is downhill to the finish, but...) What would you do differently?: Not a thing. There was a short time in the second mile where I felt weak, but I just gathered myself and got back on pace. Post race Warm down: Walked around. Had some drinks and beer. Mmmmm. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing this was a good race. Event comments: This was a good race. HRCA puts on a good series of races. I will consider doing them in the future. Oh, and I QUALIFIED FOR US AG NATIONALS. WOOO HOOO. Last updated: 2008-07-28 12:00 AM |

Highlands Ranch Run Series
85F / 29C
Sunny
Overall Rank = 20/227
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 3/36
Got up early. Had a banana. Gathered up all my stuff and headed to the race.
Went for a little run and swam about 100 yards. Then just jumped in the hot tub and waited for my heat.
I came into this race very relaxed, and somewhat unmotivated. I had pretty much given up hope of National AG qualifying. So this race was to be for fun.
