Tropical Storm Fay is down below Cuba; the Hammerhead Olympic Triathlon is this coming Saturday at Camp Blanding which is located just east of Starke, west of Green Cove Springs, and southwest of Jacksonville. | Veteran 197 Florida | Subject: RE: Hammerhead Olympic Triathlon I did the Florida Challenge in 2005 when Hurricane Wilma was 1 day away from the area. I was a blast, and beside the slight breeze, the weather was awesome!! That storm will be here and gone by then, the problem the organizers had when Wilma came through was the emergency personnel question, they were all put on alert and there was doubt the event could go off because of those type things. |

I swam in the lake yesterday and it felt really good after biking and running. It was actually cooler than I expected, but I have no idea what the water temp was. |

Master 2468 Muskego, Wisconsin | Subject: RE: Hammerhead Olympic Triathlon I live 20-ish minutes from Camp Blanding and can tell you that it rained almost all day today, when it wasn't raining it was freakish hot and stupid humid. Oh, and the wind sucks too! Not racing the HOT this year and I wish you all good luck with the weather. |

I didn't reg just in case, ya know? Last year the water was stupid hot...it's why they delayed the race so much, cuz there was so much fog on the water. Hopefully it won't be the same way this year...the whole day was stupid hot. I've never even come close to collapsing from heat exhaustion, until that race last year...they almost hauled me away. Shouldn't take any more than 45 minutes or so. Gonna do it slow and easy. Of course, Fay has almost completely stopped off the coast and could be with us for a few days now...hmmmm...damn storm. |
