Now I just wish I knew the 2.5 mile run course.

I would bet it is the run course with a shorter turn around or something like that since they don't have permits to do it on south lakes etc.. .. not certain.. going to run the course now

I'd say that is a good guess, but they do have permits for the bikes to be on South Lakes, and I'm not sure  if you can use that for run and bike.  Also there are a lot of other trails going through that area.  We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

Okay, we still don't have a clue where the 2.5 mile run is going; we only know that it will start on the track, and follow the 10k course.

The bike does not go out Ridge Heights, it goes along South Lakes High School, and out to South Lakes. So that is an extra 1.3375 miles of biking.

So I just took a walk along some of the course, here is what you can expect:

#1.  The trails will be wet, there is no way they can dry by tomorrow.

#2.  There are hazards:  Wet leaves, & debris.  Wet leaves you can slip on, debris you step on wrong and fall.  Debris includes branches & some small stones.

#3.  Be careful on the foot bridges, they seemed very slick when wet, but that may be just because I was wearing crocs.

I did see guys remarking the course in very bright orange, so you should know where to go.

I also saw a Reston Association truck touring the path to cut/move trees that are downed in the path, so you won't have to do any hurdles.

Yes, a very fun (and productive) event! I was kinda glad we didn't swim because I'm a cold wuss and it was a little too cold for me this morning. But, I did get 2nd in the Athena division so I'm super excited. FINALLY I brought home some "hardware" (although I'm sure it will be used as a cheese tray in the future!).

Yeah, nobody knew me. My husband and kids stayed at home yesterday (only one of the few times they have done that for my races) and I didn't have any friends running or watching me. So, it made my day to actually win something!

So apparently raw results are posted and this came up on the RATS board from the race director.

After the race, we learned from Set Up Events (the timing company) that
there would not be any T1 times. This was due to a battery issue on the timing
box that was at the end of Run1. The T1 times are in with the Run1 time that
is displayed.

Sorry about that.
Donna

Setup sucks....

I knew that when I ran across that mat, that I didn't hear a beep. And I ran square across it. I heard a beep leaving T1, so I know it wasn't my chip. That blows.

HOWEVER - my total posted time for Run 1 and T1 was 21:20. And I know I wasn't super-fast getting out of T1. So I think I went sub-20 for the run!! Wahoo!

I'm starting to get mad at Set-Up. Except that their races are close by...and that makes it wallet-friendly for me.

People on TRIRATS are saying it was 23.7 miles. It's the first run people are confused about. Although the announcer before the race was saying 2.75 miles most people are saying no way...closer to 2.5 (if not less).

If that run was 2.75 miles there were quite a few world class runners on that hilly, wet course.

Thanks for the info on the bike route.

THANK YOU for handing out pizza. I'm not one for more than bread/bagel and a banana after a race. I took one bite of the pizza and said "NO WAY." I walked around with it for about 15- 20 minutes, though...at which point I INHALED it! YUM! Thanks so much for volunteering at the race.
