Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Looks sweet! We (the hubby and other mtn bike club members) are headed up this weekend! I'm sure they will enjoy it immensely. I'll be sticking to the easy stuff and maybe trying out the practice loop. |

I just visited my new cyclecross frame today and discussed with my bike guy about getting a MTB. I Heart You Kathy! That is hilarious. Visiting your frame!!!! Well I will do a cheap plug - Ellsworth Full Suspension 29er - Evolve - that is what I rented and it was out of this world. Wish I would not have pulled the trigger last month on hardtail I bought. When is the new bike going to be ready? I could pick her up Saturday if I wanted her built without me. But couldn't ride it as I'm doing an IM as a biker in relay Sunday. So as hard as it was I opted to wait until next Wed. (8 days yikes) when I can help my bike guy build her up ..well help in a very loose sense....watch might be better word. Of course I took a picture....

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Nice! Never been there but was at Mammoth Mtn a few weeks ago and had a blast. |

Elite![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Looks awesome! I haven't been yet, but will probably go next year if the Four Corners XTERRA is held again. You know you can have more than one MTB at a time. |

Sensei![]() | ![]() wgraves7582 - 2008-08-26 7:23 PM Yes I know this is about triathlons, but this was XTERRA training and it rocked. Just wanted to post a little picture of the slickrock in Moab. For those who have been you know how jacked I am right now and for those who have not - it is worth the trip no matter what the cost! Moab is amazing... Been there a couple times and I want to go back... |

Champion![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Since you started a MTB Porn thread. I'll add some. I was in Breckenridge last week. Did Kenosha Pass back to Breck on the CO Trail as our long day. 30 miles of riding. 7:45 door of car to door of condo. Not my Elevation Profile, but the same ride. The people who did this chart took the bail out on the mining road back to Breck. We wanted to take the bail out, missed it ended up climbing another 2 miles/500-700 feet before getting directions, turning around and taking the bail out. Top Line is 12,000 feet, our high according to our GPS unit was 11,800 and change. Start is at about 10,000 feet and the low is just under 9,250 feet. Champion![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Oh yeah, Moab is awesome. Klondike Bluffs is a fun descent. My favorite is Porcupine Rim. I could have ridden that trail everyday I was in Moab and been happy. I thought it was the greatest ever. It's still up there, but the descending from Georgia Pass was freakin phenomenal. |

Nothing like 30 miles in 7 hours huh? It is amazing how much slower the beast is to push than the road bike! That descent had to have rocked! I think all my running this year helped the most. It wasn't super technical climbing, but being a flatlander, the altitude was killer. Anytime I exerted myself to get over obstacles I got out of breath and it was impossible to get back under control. I ended up doing a decent amount of climbing on the way up. |

Does anyone know what it is like down there in the fall, Sept Oct time frame. Was thinking of maybe taking a week and going. I was in Moab October. Great time of the year. They were having a heat wave so I'm not sure what actual temps are like, but we saw highs in the mid to upper 80s and lows in the low 50s upper 40s. We had planned on doing Fruita this year, but the beta is that August and Fruita are not fun and to stick to the high country. I could not have been happier with that decision. |

Is that Gunnar I say under the foam? My Surly Cross Check is a great all around bike, but I have been lusting over a stiff crotch rocket aluminum cross bike. I think I'll do some races this season on the surly and see how that goes before pulling the plug on a new one. |

Earlier can sometimes still be pretty hot. |
