My last triathlon the swim was a little over 1/2 a mile and I was able to finish it ok. My Oly distance is in 2 1/2 weeks and I just want to be able to finish the swim comfortably. I'm not too concerned with speed, my pace is my pace (something to work on in the winter maybe), so what is the best way to go about this? Should I not bother with sets of smaller distances and just try to swim increasingly longer stretches without stopping? Any input would be great!

Looking at your logs, are you swimming about once a week?

Do you have any other races after the Oly? What are your goals for those races?

I noticed that you have already done one 2000 yard continuous swim. So, you know you can do the distance. For me, that was the biggest encourager when I was making a jump to a longer distance.

try doing 3 or 4 sets of 500 with 1 minute rest at about the pace you are looking for during race day. Also, try to get in the pool at least a couple of days a week

Thats what I did, as well as a couple straight 1600s in the pool and around 3 OWS of at least .75 miles.

The great thing about swimming is it doesn't take as long as, say, a good bike ride.  You can get in the pool for 1/2 hour and get a great workout.

My advice, if you're in the pool, you might as well stay there for a while and try to hit 1500 every workout, it's only eating up 30-40 minutes.  Just keep swimming and hit the race distance at least a couple more times before the race to build your confidence.  I'm no swim coach, but the best way to know if you're going to finish the distance ok is to do it a few times.

Thanks for the tips! I hit the pool today and swam 2000yd nonstop (well I checked my time at 1650yd which may have taken 10-15 seconds).. I'll probably be able to fit in 2 (3?) more pool sessions and 2 OWS before the race.. swimming the distance in open water will be a HUGE confidence boost.. as for the pool I'll just keep swimming the long distances and try out the 4x500 that a PP suggested
