Pre-race routine:

Got up around 5:30. Unfortunately I didn't sleep as well as I would have liked, but tends to be the case the night before the race. Eat a banana, gathered up all my race stuff (Garmin, race belt, etc), and headed out the door so that we could get a decent parking spot near the beginning.
Event warmup:

This consisted mostly of getting in the line for the port-a-potty, light streching, and lots of standing around. Oh what fun.

Comments:

The run was aptly named and very nice. The course was well shaded throughout, which helped keep the body temp down.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I was using this as a trainig run for the Denver Marathon, so I choose to take it easier.
Post race
Warm down:

Unfortunately (kinda), the start and finish were several miles apart, so I decided the day prior that after I finished the 10 miles I would run back and get the car since I am scheduled for a 16 mile run this week anyways. Figured I could knock out two birds with one stone that way. So after I got back to the car I stretched for a few minutes and then headed back to the finish line to pick up Laura. I got a little lost going back, but I eventually found here. She didn't mind to much since she found a Starbucks near Wash Park.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

If I hadn't choosen to use it as a long training run, I could have pushed it much harder for those ten miles. But I wanted to have energy for the last six miles.

Event comments:

Next year I am hoping to really be able to "race" this one and not turn it into a long training run. Some of that was because I didn't want to burn out my body for the race I have in six day. It is always nice to be able to adjust the schedule as needed.

Performance: Good
Course: The course started near the Denver Zoo on the outskirts of Center Park. We followed that road, then went through Center Park and headed towards Cheesemen Park. Once through that park we headed towards yet another park. Alamo Placita had beatiful flowers, which was a nice break from the grass and houses that we had seen till this point. Once we made it through that park we made our way to Washington (Wash) Park and rounded the lake to finish the course.

Congratulations, Travis!  Pretty darn impressive for a glorified training run and way to pace yourself so you could add the extra miles on after the race.
