Subject: Tri Top During the Swim
I just purchased a Tri Top for my race this weekend, and tried it out at the pool today. I usually just wear Tri Shorts during the swim, and pull a shirt on in T1.

I felt what seemed like some drag from the shirt on my back while swimming. Also, the top has pockets on the side that I would think would cause drag in the water.

I tucked the shirt into my shorts real tight, and that seemed to help alot. My question is, is this normal?

I always wear a tri top during the swim but I make sure that, if it has pockets, they are the zippered kind to reduce drag. Tyr has a nice top as does Pearl Iz....

I always wear my tri top during the swim.  It has one fairly small pocket in the back that doesn't seem to cause too much of a problem.  I don't get drag from the shirt itself because it is pretty snug.  No extra fabric to tuck in.

I've completed 3 tri's, with my 4th coming in october...

I've never used a shirt on any of the swims. It may be a mental thing, but I think it would cause unnecessary drag. That's just me, though.

Upon entering T1, I just throw a tri-specific wicking shirt on and go...

Good luck...
