Subject: High CPK Levels in Blood Test? - Due to Tri Training?

You can go Google CPK, and get some hits, read the first few.  It is a test for Creatininne PhosphoKinase ... a certain enzyme .... and usually is elevated a few hours after a heart attack .... and in other situations ...

Anyhow, I just got a call from a doctor about my high CPK levels, it was a 424 and the upper limit for normal is 195 ....  could this be from all the training I've done lately?

Anyone else get high CPK levels from any of their blood test results while in training?

Yes, it's likely from training.

Years ago I did an aerobics class for the first time and the next day I was very sore.  I went in for a routine blood test and my enzymes were all out of wack, including CPK as I recall.

That is what I was thinking, but to be sure I'm going back in Thursday for a followup test.

Certainly I would know it if I had suffered a heart attack, I don't think I would have been able to complete my sprint tri this past Sunday (and the blood work was drawn the Wednesday before this past Sunday) ...

... so the only other reasonable explanation would be from all the training and muscle damage/repair/damage/repair ... etc I have been putting it through the last few weeks.
