Subject: Sore Calves
I cycle quite a bit and I believe that it has caused problems with soreness in my calves during and after runs.   I have concentrated on stretching out the calves more and I bought a massage stick....   I want to pick up my mileage but I don't want to do any damage to my calves to hender my training.   Other than stretching is there any other advise on how to deal with this problem?

Make sure you are stretching other muscles properly as well as just your calves.  Tight hamstrings, for example, could have a knock on affect making your calves sore.

I think you might be right....    I teach cycling classes and I stretch a little bit before and after, but I probably don't have the flexibiilty I should have.   I am actually considering taken a yoga class at the club to help with the tightness in the hamstrings and cavles.

definately find some great stretches, and stretch carefully. Then try to do a couple sets of 1 legged calf raises during a strength routine. 20 reps, 3 sets is prety normal.....
