Subject: Is this reasonable for this bike?

Hi!

I currently ride a 2000 Devinci Chicane.  I love it dearly - but I also know that not only does it not fit correctly, but I want something with better components and equipment..

Long story short - I ran into a guy I know who did a couple Ironmans but doesn't have the time anymore - so he's selling his Cervelo P2K (2003) with 650s.

I'm just wondering what is reasonable to pay for this bike.  It's stock except the seat (Profile Design Tri Seat), Sigma Computer (no cadence) and it comes with a disk wheel.  He said he will also give me the cleats for the pedals (Look).  I rode it today and I LOVED it.  It's SO fast!!

He's looking for 1500$ but I have no idea what the bike is worth.  TIs that reasonable for a 5 year old bike?  It's in really good shape - no nicks, chips, etc.  It's never been dumped.

I'd appreciate any feedback.  I just don't want to pay more than it's worth - but I do really like it...

Thanks!

My completely unlearned opinion would be that it's a little on the high side. Here's a recently completed auction on ebay that closed at $955:

 http://cgi.ebay.com/Cervelo-P2K-TT-Triathlon-Bike-56-CM_W0QQitemZ130261403323QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item130261403323&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A13%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

I would like to know what kind of components this bike has, and would also like to know what kind of disk wheel, front wheel too for that matter.  Just off-hand I'd say $1150 for an Ultegra 9-speed with a Renn disc , maybe as high $1300-$1400 for DA with a Hed disc, $1500 for Zipp.

A new P1, which is probably today's equivalent of the P2K, lists for $1750, without the disk, of course.

if you're sold on a P2, I think you could find a better deal just based on the bike alone. A brand new 2008 P2Sl (better than a P2K) is only $1400 here: http://www.all3sports.com/product_info.php?pName=cervelo-p2-sl-ultegra-bicycle-2008

if you're sold on your friend's bike because it comes with a disc, I too would be interested in knowing more details about the disc.

I honestly dismissed the disk (which shows you my experience - all sprint) ...I know for sure it's not a Zipp.  I should have paid more attention.  He said he paid 500$ for it new - so it's not high end.

The bike looks EXACTLY like this one: http://www.bikesportmichigan.com/reviews/pk2.shtml/> The components are exactly as listed on the Bike Sport Michigan page.  He's upgraded the seat to a Profile Design and put on a Sigma computer.  I get the Look pedals and the cleats for my shoes.

I figured that between 1000$ and 1100$ was fair.  I honestly don't have a huge budget and if it's not worth it I will just wait - I don't "need" it right now - I have a perfectly good bike to get me through the winter (and my mountain bike for snow days), it's not like I'm going to have much riding weather left anyway ...

I really appreciate your feedback and opinions.
