Subject: 2009 Race question
I am looking at an Oly race in Sept 09 that falls exactly 2 weeks before a HIM I am planning on doing as my A race. I was considering whether or not to do the OLY (with no taper) as my last hard workout prior to starting my 2 week taper for the HIM.

Would this be ok, or would it hurt my HIM race?

Thanks

No, you should be just fine doing that as long as you have had a good build up and base fitness.  You could even "race" the oly. if you want as the recovery should not be more than a week in which time you can be doing recovery sessions while working on your HIM set up and strategy.

I will be doing a hard oly. 3 weeks out from my HIM next year, so similar in thought process as using that last hard workout with a race.  I actually prefer that approach as it gives you a really good sense of where you are.  And if you don't want to push it, you go with a HIM paced effort and stick to the plan to see how race pace in a race situation feels.
