Pre-race routine:

Got up at 5, at a PB/waffle sammich, some diet coke and drove downtown. Found a bathroom, got my chip and headed for the start line.

Event warmup:

Nuthin'. This was just an easy littl ewarm up for Beach-2-Battleship Saturday.

Comments:

My goal was to just run under 2 hours (my goal IM pace), and wow was it easy. I was chomping at the bit to go faster. Probably ran 1:52 pace most of the way, but slowed towards the end because one of my running buddies was getting tired. Stopped at 4 aid stations and 3 times for the porta potties). Note: no funnel cakes the day before a race.

Post race

Warm down:

Haul ass back home to get to church on time.

Event comments:

his was a gerat first-time race. About 800 folks, cool jack-o-lantern medals and a great, well-managed course. The same group tha tput on this race will be doing the 70.3 next fall in Augusta--looks like a harbinger of good things for that race.

Course:	Flat the firs t3 miles, then grinding up hill, pretty steep past my house until 5 miles. Downhill for the next few and then rolling to th efinish. Great course.
