Comments:

I wanted to run a 1:45. My first mile was at 10:15 and my second was over 9. I decided that it was going to be too much to try and make up so I reset my goal to equal or beat my time at the Evansville half. I upped my pace for the next 4 miles, then increased again after the halfway point. At this place in the race, I am guessing I was running around a 7:40 pace. I am not good at judging pace and my math skills weren't good enough at this point to figure it out! At mile 10 I was actually on pace to do a 1:45 but I lost some pace in the last 3+ miles to the finish. I finished 3 seconds faster than in Evansville. A new PR and a nice finish to the 2008 season!
What would you do differently?:

Get closer to the start line and say goodbye to my friend who I started with before the gun, not after 2 miles into the race.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, stretched and got some food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Slower start than necessary.

Event comments:

This is one of the best half marathons I have ever done. Well organized, lot's of fluid stops, nice course with plenty of help. After the split of the marathoners and halver's, the course was wide open. This is way better than the Indy Mini and I would recommend it to anyone thinking about doing either the half or the full marathon.

One suggestion would be for the organizers to put signs on poles in the staging area for mile paces so people can line up better according to pace. There was a couple pacers holding signs for marathon finishing times, but mile pace signs at the staging areas would help and would be applicable to both the half and full marathoners. And extra reminders for walkers to stage in the rear. In the first two miles I was kind of surprised how many walkers were out in front of me.

Thanks!  I guess I don't need all the electronic gear!  I am getting better at knowing how hard and how fast I am going.  I was 3 seconds faster than Evansville and 1 heart beat lower.
