Comments: Since I was so cold and didn't really want to do the race due to the cold, I rationalized with myself that I was just going to have fun. I didn't start my watch or look at any of the timing clocks along the race. I ran until mile 8ish, and then walked 34th St between Chestnut and Powelton. (I saw my old apartment!!) After that, I ran any flat or downhill section and walked a couple of hills. I also walked all of the aid stations as the water/gatorade that was on the ground froze over causing lots of ice. My right calf and right ankle started to bother me around mile 10, but I am used to pain in my ankle, so I fought through it. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed medal, mylar blanket, food, gear bag and hurried back to the car to turn on the heat. Once home, I took a hot shower, turned up the heat (from 67 degrees to 72 degrees), and hundled under a blanket. It took me all day to warm up. What limited your ability to perform faster: The cold weather! Last updated: 2008-10-02 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:00 am and left apartment around 4:25 am. Drove into the city and found my free parking area around 5:00 am. Drank a bottle of Infinit for morning calories, since I can't handle solid food before a race.
It was cold! A billboard on the drive into the race showed a temperature of 23F degrees and there was some wind. I arrived at the race site 2 hours before race time. I sat in the after-race food tent for a little while and then they kicked us out of the tent. I seriously considered giving up on the race and driving home. I could not feel my feet when the race started.
