Nope... I am sidelined! I will pickup my packet and cheer on the participants instead. I developed some serious tendonitis in my left knee 4 weeks ago on a 22miler and then irritated it further during the Marine Mud Run the following week. I stayed off of it for 3 weeks and did a 5k test drive on Tuesday. Felt great and I did an 8 miler yesterday with some strides.. Felt great during the run, but woke up with the same damn nagging freaking annoying knee pain. I have reluctantly decided to bow out and try again for the Cowtown Marathon in Febuary.... Good Luck!!!!!!!!

Right now the extended forecast is 68/49. If it holds true it ought to be excellent running weather.

Cliff bar will have pace groups for the full marathon, and yes, being the first marathon you wanna pace yourself really good. Otherwise you're risking to hit a bad wall on mile 20 and maybe have to walk the rest of the race.

Whatever pace you did in the half, increase it by a minute at least and estimate your total time, then you just find your pacer. It's fun because some of those guys/girls actually cheer you all the way.

Good luck on your race, see you there maybe.

From mile 18 to 21 the course is largely up hill.  After that, it's pretty much down hill all the way to the finish line.  But, the Dolly Parton hills at during mile 19 are not a good time to hit the wall.  Pace yourself well.

This is a great race for your first marathon.  Good bands along the way, good aid stations and lots of spectators will yell good things to you.  They can tell this is your first marathon from your race number color. And the 9 miles in the middle is really nice around the lake.

Around the lake is nice as long as we stay off of the bouncy bouncy bridges... Innocent

The bridge across the north end of the lake is not on the course.  The course goes up to Northwest Highway and across. The bridge at the north west corner of the lake is not bouncy and the one by the paddle boats is not on the course either.

The bridge by the dam is on the course, as far as I know, and that's the really bouncy one.  Luckily is the short one.

I am sitting out this year, but I have done the White Rock Mary three times. It is a great course with tons of people, live bands, and plenty of support. The weather should be perfect this year, so I might roll down to the lake on my bike to cheer you on. Enjoy the day!

Just saw that.... it was looking good a few days ago with the cooler weather we were having.. now I'm really glad i'm doing the half..  who knows maybe it will change again,, last year it was very warm on saturday (mid 70's)at packet pickup, and everyone was worried about the heat, then it dropped 30 degrees over night and had rain

Well, I'm now on a relay team for the marathon.

I'm doing leg 2. It's 4 miles. But I have a 5 miler scheduled, so I'll have to keep running another mile after I pass off my chip.

Karen!  I didn't know that!  Hopefully I get to see you there!  I am running the full with my best friend.  We have already decided we are running this one slow and for fun.  No racing for us.  It's our first full marathon.

I went at "lunch" to get my bib. What a feakin mess. Getting the bib wasn't a problem, but the line to get the event shirt was about an hour and parking was $7 just about everywhere. I didn't get to check out much of the expo, although I did get a TX Tough tshirt for attempting to run 6mph on a 50* incline. I hope I can recover in time for the race

I hope they've figured something out by tomorrow.

I had the same problem. Go to get you racing packet with plenty of time and patience. I hope the race is better organized.

Good luck on Sunday!Smile
