Comments: I started off strong, I kept going as fast as my breathing would allow, I will say I felt weak. After about the first 1/2 mile everyone started to spread out, I tried to settle in on my pace at this point. At the one mile point I had ran a 7:18 mile, I dont think I have done this since high school so it was a great feeling that gave me a subtle boost. At the 1 1/2 mile point it was getting difficult, legs were starting to burn and breathing continued to be difficult. At the 2 mile mark I think my split was at 16 minutes, this was going to be a very fast day, for me anyway! Shortly after this point I started to get passed, I just kept telling myself to stay on pace and focus on my form and energy, try to let my training carry me in. I was out of gas the last half mile, I tried to keep pushing, I crossed at 24:50, it was way better than I expected! The finish chute was backed up and I almost hurled on the guy in front of me.I knew I pushed as hard as I could. I beat my last years time by exactly three minutes! What would you do differently?: Train better for the last mile. Post race
Warm down: Ran one mile, water and 1/4 bagel. What limited your ability to perform faster: Pacing and fitness during last mile. Event comments: I like this race, its too fun, be back next year! Last updated: 2008-07-16 12:00 AM

I was able to help setup this year, our run club sponsors the event with close to 1500 people this year. I was up at 4 am by default so I watched the news while I ate a light snack before I headed over to set up.
I ran a mile warmup with different speeds, like I know what I'm doing!
