You can do it if you want to do it. You're body is capable of amazing things, give it a chance, don't let your mind get in the way.

Yes, you are fooling yourself!  And I was fooling myself into thinking that at 39 years old, 237 pounds, and unable to fun 1/3 of a mile, that in under one year, I could train for and complete a marathon & 2 Olympic Distance Tris.

Keep fooling yourself all of the way to the finish line!

Today at the race I did, the announcer doing the awards declared the Clydes and Athenas the LOVEHANDLE DIVISION.  That is rude. I am going to voice my complaints....

While the "Lovehandle Division" is rude and inappropriate, I think the same about the division named after a huge horse.  While the women have a division named after an incredible Greek goddess, the men have a division named after a farm animal....

I'm not insulted, but it does make me want a beer.  These animals are strong, beautiful, with a gentle but persistent personality.

Despite its large size, the Clydesdale presents with an energetic quality described by the Clydesdale Horse Society as "gaiety of carriage and outlook".

I like that!

I was just at a business seminar and they gave some great advice that applies here - say you're going to do and then do it.  but say you're going to do it.  Tell the checker in the grocery store, your waitress at the restaurant, your friends, your family, your co-worker.  Give yourself an "audience" to perform for.  Then DO it.  Train.  Work out.  Sign up for a race - or 3!!  You don't have to win.  You just have to go and do it!

I'm rooting for you!

You can so do this. Back in 2005 I was probably the worst swimmer in the world. I couldn't even swim 25m because I had no clue what I was doing, but with a little persistence and determination, I completed my first triathlon.

Fast forward to 2008 and I completed my first Iron Distance tri! What was my worst disciplines, swimming is now one of my best.

Best advice I can give is sign up for a race whether it's a 5k, sprint tri...or whatever, that way you have a date and time to get yourself ready. And...most importantly, have fun with what you are doing. You'll be amazed at what you can do.

Good luck and we look forward to reading your race reports!
