Okay here's a pool by me.

Yes that's 137 m long. It's salt water too.
Okay this website says it's Canada's longest pool.

Around here lots of pools are 50m long. The Vancouver Aquatic Centre, UBC, Canada Games, etc. UBC has an iteresting shape in that it is not totally square. It's length is 50m, it's width is 25m, but the end is 25 yards. Just go to the pool at the right time and you can do either. I believe the master's swim club uses the 25 yard configuration.

The Kitsilano pool would be cool for practicing with a wetsuit. they say it's heated but it still ain't real warm, is it. And if you want to experience serious hypothermia, just hop over the side and swim in the Pacific. Is UBC still running their triathalon in the spring? I remember doing that race with a skiff of snow on the ground at race start. The big post-race ticket was a spot in the aquatic center hot tub. You've never seen so many bodies in a jacuzzi.

I do see some people swimming with wetsuits on in Kits pool, but it isn't really necessary. It's pretty warm. The water at Kits beach averages around 65F in the summer, I think. There's actually an open water swim club in the spring and summer that swims in Kits beach for their training. Once a year people do it without wetsuits.

Yep, the UBC tri is still on and I think it's the biggest indoor (swim) tri in North American. It was held last Sunday. I remember seeing 3 race reports, mine included. Believe it or not it was actually sunny and warm.

This is why Canadians are so even tempered. They're too cold to get uptight. Only a Canadian would boast of 65 as being warm. (and I think 65 sounds optimistic for Vancouver). I used to swim off Vancouver Island in temps more like 55F (wetsuit of course) and now I get uptight if the temp is below 80. that's what living in the south will do to you.

Oh no, Kits beach isn't warm. The pool is warm though cause it's heated.

I actually like swimming in cooler temperatures in a wetsuit. Anything over 80 without a wetsuit and I overheat and get headaches. I kind of like the 68 degree temps.

LadyKeetes - 2005-03-15 4:57 PM The gym I'm at now has a nice 25 yd pool, diving board (yay! fun stuff).

No Diving board for me, but, we have 2 waterslides(indoor) in the completely seperate family pool.  The lap pool is a 6 lane 25m, and it's on the cold side which keeps out the pretenders
