Subject: RE: Racing Flats Agreed with the above posts. Gradually train in flats and work them into your routine. Once you are used to them and feel comfortable in them at race distance, then just wear them for your races.
FWIW: I wouldnt wear a flat for a distance longer than a 10k; however, this depends on personal preference, choice of flat, injury proneness, etc. I wear a very light flat (Nike Zoom Forever/Waffle Racers ) which feel awesome up until the 4-5 mile mark for me. After that, I can feel the effects of not having good motion control. Such is the downside with using a racing flat. They are light, cheap, and fast...but obviously come with a compromise. Your results may vary, but just recognize what you are giving up with a flat, so you can avoid injury. |
