Run
Comments: The race started in a muddy field at some cones. The race organizer said go and we were all off. Luckily the race except for the start/finish was on a paved trail (W&OD). Things spread out quickly. The first 2.5 miles are pretty flat and a good place to get your pace going. Not all of the miles were marked and I messed up my watch so I was kind of guessing as I went along. My first mile was around 8m. A little fast for me but I knew once I hit the hills I would slow down. Mile 2.5-6 are constant up and down tough hills - not long but pretty steep. I did better this year than last - no walking. HR peaked around 174 and stayed mostly in the 160s on the hills. I finished strong. I was pleased w/ my race and it was a good tempo run effort. I was about 15min faster this year than last. What would you do differently?: Just keep training and working on pushing up the hills in a race. Post race
Warm down: ate some banana bread, drank water and a few power gels - Cola flavor. Walked back to the car. Event comments: Don't know placings or official time - it usually takes a few weeks for things to be posted. It is not a chip timed race. Last updated: 2009-02-01 12:00 AM

Ate a bowl of oatmeal, drank water and had a little coffee. Late race start so I had plenty of time in the morning.
Drove over to park and parked about 30min. before race start. Walked and jogged over to register.
