so this coming wednesday hopefully many of my knee issues will be solved with a partial knee replacement. i have been battling knee issues for over three years since i was hit by a car. originally it was a partially torn acl, but my mutiple mri's have shown much more structural damage plus the loss of cartiledge. believe me it has not been a fun journey. my knee has gotten to the point where it is bone on bone and causing my normal day to day activities to be very painful. so wednesday morning after a little smoothing out of my bones my new prosthetic will be anchored into my knee. with some good rehab he expects me at least back into the pool in a month or so, and hopefully on the bike in 6-8 weeks. for running it is a wait and see which i have no issues with. this is such a great supportive community that has provided countless stories of inspiration and motivation. so thank you.

When my Mom got double knee replacement her thoughts were why did I wait so long to do this as it really improved her life.

Good luck!

so i thought i would give a quick update on my surgery. i am back home after spending 2 days in the hospital. and yes it is painful, but that is getting better everyday. i have a nice incision in my knee with 18 staples keeping it closed, and the staples are to removed on thursday. i am able to "walk" around on my own putting weight on my surgically repaired knee. i am also hooked up to a machine that manually bends my knee. if you thought trainer rides were boring give this try. i am supposed to be hooked up for a minimum of 6 hours a day and increasing the angle that it flexes daily. i will just be taking things slowly and carefully and be back out there soon enough.

Wow, sounds pretty wild.  I hope your recovery goes well and that swimming and riding come back quickly.  If you don't mind, drop me a pm and let me know who did your surgery.  Someday I may have my meniscus scoped, and I've seen a couple different docs along the foothills there.
